November 24th, 2008

I had an interesting experience after the first spinal injectiion.  The next morning I woke up with pain in my hamstrings and glutes thinking it was due to p.t.  The following morning I woke about 3 in the morning with severe sciatic nerve pain which convinced me that the pain was not muscular but neurological.  Taking 3 advil made the pain go away in about an hour.  In talking with another patient, he experienced the same thing after his second spinal.  The pain eventually left and hasn’t returned.  My next spinal is wednesday.  To be continued.-Al

This treatment does not sound like a day in the park at all, but we are sure it will be all worth it. We’re thinking of you, Nicole and John

    Hi Al & Joanne,

We’re so glad you had your first treatment and that it’s over- it’s hard to lay on your back for 6 hrs and be quiet. Now you’re on your way to being better- I firmly believe that! Let us know how your Thanksgiving goes and how the turkey tastes. We had lots of chicken but never turkey. What an adventure! Sam wants to say a few words so I’ll say goodbye now. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving – we’ll be thinking about you and we love you both lots!!! Helen & Sam

    Hi Al and Joanne,
We’re all so glad to be receiving your updates! About to pick up the girls for our visit to NJ over Thanksgiving, but we’ll check your blog on our return Sunday (and Mary Ann can check with Cheryl in meantime) For now, we continue to pray for your progress with the spinals, and hope your turkey dinner comes out well!
Mary Ann sends her love, as we all do,
    Patty, Charles, Christine, and Mary

Al & Joanne, I am constantly praying and thinking of you both.
It might be a good time for some creative visualization seeing those millions of stem cells healing your body. Am feeling so helpless being in New Jersey. I can only offer my deepest love and affection. Hope the second infusion is equally successful as the first. You are both very brave. Love you both, Linda

Hello, Joanne and Al. It’s wonderful getting your emails and reading your blog. You are in our thoughts daily, and we hope you can feel all the care and concern coming across the miles to you. We’ll be anxious to hear how your Thanksgiving dinner goes, and we’ll certainly toast your health during ours…..Much love from Steve and Aileen xoxoxo

    Hi Al,

Hey, it’s probably a bit late but Happy Thanksgiving anyway-did you manage to have some chicken and pretend it was turkey?! We had our Thanksgiving last month, here, so now it’s onward toward Xmas… Yeah, spinals often seem to bring about weird side effects that no one tells you about . Probably because everyone seems to react to them differently. For me, after my 2nd one, I went really stiff & rigid-kind of like I was the Tinman and someone had sprayed me with water. Try telling THAT to your Chinese physiotherapist! Anyway, after a couple of days I loosened up & got doing way better than ever. Weird, I was seriously bummed out about it while it was happening though…..Best wishes oin the next ’round. You’ll be an “old pro” at this soon! Bye for now & take good care…

    Cheers,
    Chris
