Hi sorry for the delay in posting but it was hard to get Michael of Ebay and Autotrader as well as trying to stay awake as all i seem to do is doze on the sofa.
We’re all good here, Michael got the Train to Beijing early this morning and is due to fly home in about 30 mins. So far this morning Grace has had her first iv of stemcells, or cold tea, i’m still not totally convinced, and we have the rest of the day off. It’s mid 30’s today so don’t think we’ll venture out till later this evening, maybe for an icecream.
The last few days have made me realise how spoilt we were in Hangzhou. Monday Grace went for an x-ray, ECG and ultrasound in the main hospital and it was just like the pictures you see on the news. Crumbling walls, people everywhere, dripping pipes, poor lighting and SMELL. In Hangzhou it was a fairly new hospital that was incredibly clean with top of the range equipment. Michael went into the x-ray with Grace and while they jumped behind the lead screen he was left there with no protection and the ECG machine still had suck on cups to attach to the chest. Another bonus with Hangzhou was that all therapy was done on your ward, here we have to travel to another building for physio and o.t. Although i think the rehabilitation side here may be better, only been to on session so will have to see.
My last rant will be the supermarket, it is nowhere near as good as Hangzhou and not within walking distance so they only get 2stars there.
Tomorrow is Physio in the morning and O.T in the afternoon and the same friday. Grace’s first spinal is on Monday.
I won’t be able to put any pictures up until i get home as Facebook is blocked here and this website always tells me my files are too big to post.
Thanks for all the comments.

Morning you two
Well it’s 7.04am here and Rose is still putting up zzzzz’s, I will have to wake her shortly as you know how grumpy she can be in the mornings. She is doing really well and her behaviour isn’t too far off her baseline so when Dad gets home she will be even better. She has been having about 9/10 hours sleep per night but getting her off can be a challenge, as you know only too well!!
Hope you and Grace are looking after yourselves and the state of the hospital isn’t too difficult to deal with. It sounds like you may have a lot of time on your hands with no shops etc nearby, hope the time doesn’t hang too heavy for you and that you have everything you need.
Your Nan sends her love and I have had to promise her that I will give her regular bulletins so I will ring her later.
‘Huggles’ to you both, and a big kiss for Grace
Mum, Ged and Rose xx
Hi there, I am getting the hang of this now, I didn’t know the bloggs went sideways and was wondering why you had’nt posted more! Shame about the photo’s but then it is a communist country after all. With regard to the hospital, does it smell of disinfectant or something else entirely? Well we have a completion date for our house now so roll on Bank holiday and the big move, the bungalow is OK, it’s main feature is it has a garage so that is a tick in the box from me. We are seriously contemplating paying someone to move for us to save ourselves the hassle, perhaps you could send a few people over for us. LOL. Well now I have figured it out I will post more soon. Thinking of you both and looking forward to seeing you on your return.
PS. thanks for the card.
Matt
Sorry to hear about the state of the hospital….. perhaps you could do a ‘60 minute makeover’ on it – it would keep you busy too :O)
Do you want anything sending over?? Email me your address & I’ll get some goodies off to you, I’m sure Rose left a couple of fruit shoots & marshmallows somewhere – ha ha ha! Seriously though send me the add and I will send you one of my famous (well my brother loves them) Red Cross Parcel’s out to you both.
Thank you for our card it was REALLY kind of you and so thoughtful, it meant a lot (HUG)
Uncle Matt thinks he’s Bill Gates now he’s got the hang of this – we might be off line for a little while after we move but I’m sure it won’t be long as I’ll feel like my arm’s fallen off
Ok going to go a culinary delight needs to be created and it won’t do its self
Love & massive hugs to you both xxx

Hi Matt,
If you click on the Grace’s Blog title on top you will open it on the front page and will always get to see the most current update. Then you can click on the comments if you want to read them. We are moving into our newly built house at the moment too, I feel your pain! I wish we could hire people to magically transport everything but hopefully we’ll be in by Sunday night.
Hi Leanne and Grace,
I hope you are both doing well. I hope you managed to get out for an ice-cream. it must be tough getting adjusted to the heat and humidity. it certainly saps your energy. I hope everything goes well in this hospital. It is good that the rehabilitation side of things seem to be very good. it is a pity you have to go to another building for it though. I am sure you’ll get into a routine pretty quickly and it’ll become easier. It must be tough adjusting to the new and different ways of doing things.
We are all thinking of you and sending positive thoughts.
Hopefully catch you for a chat this evening.
Lots of love,
Orla xxx
Hey
sorry to hear things aren’t on par with the last time but maybe it means that because this hospital isn’t as good that Graces improvements will be even better!!! reverse psycology or something!!! totally can’t spell!!!!
don’t worry about the rant… i always feel so much better after my hourly ones!!!
good luck to Grace for Monday but I’m sure she will be as brave as ever!!! Hope you are keeping well yourself!
talk soon xxxxx
Hiiiiii,
Whats with these security words we have to write before we send our message???? Mine was ‘obnoxious’ this time….. Are they having a bloody dig at me? hee hee… If they ask me to write ‘fatty boom boom’ next time, I am giving up!!!
I hope ye are settling in ok, it doesnt sound as nice as the last hospital. Lets hope the time goes quickly for you both.
Gary is going to Scotland on Sunday to work and I have decided to go up with him. Might be a laugh. We will be staying in Liverpool on Saturday night with friends, then on to Edinburgh on Sunday, back to Newcastle on Monday and Lincoln on Tuesday. Oh the life of a high flying jetsetter like me!!!
No news right now, I will message you agian once I get home and fill you in on our usual trials and tribulations!
Hope Grace is well and settling in well.
Love Siobhan X
Come on woman! don’t starve us of info….I need something to do at lunchtime. How was the Ice Cream? What flavour was it?
You see, I am reduced to asking questions about Ice Cream, don’t do this to me!
I will be on her more now that Orla (thankyou) has told me where to click. (I was’nt even aware that I had to click anywhere, it just appeared in front of me yesterday when I selected the link. Hopefully, by the time you both come home I will have mastered this lark.
Hope you are both well and in fine fettle.
Matt
Hi both of you
How are things today? I keep looking at this thing every day and you have a lovely family and network of support xxxx
Owen and I have been in the hospital since 8.30am having bloods to see if he’s started puberty early. It was all organised which makes a change and Owen so good having the canula in. He got a treat afterwards!
GOt home about 2.00pm so it was quite long time but they kept taking blood every half hr so time flew by quite quickly. Just got to wait for the results now.
Keep you chin up and keep positive.
Any suggestions what Rose would like for her birthday yet hun?
