Matt Sims 22, USA Septo Optic Dysplasia November 2009: Today we are releasing a video of Matt and his parents discussing Matt, his development and quality of life, options available to his family in the US and their experience living 40 days in Qingdao, China while Matt received a cycle of adult stem cell transplants. Matt Receives Acupuncture Qingdao China StemCellsChina would like to thank Matt's mother, Diane for contributing to Matt's Patient Experience. Click here to read an article by Diane about her family's trip to China. Matthew has been home now for nearly three months and even though he’s had only small improvements in his eye sight, we believe these improvements will eventually add up and at some point will be the major breakthrough we are waiting for. With what he has received in healing - more clarity, better color sight and longer range focus, he is seeing better now than he ever has. His original diagnosis is Septo Optic Dysplasia, with his eye sight at 20/200 in each eye. We have not yet tested his sight as we feel it is too soon, but will do so next spring. After returning to Colorado, Matt set out to regain his strength and endurance. After losing some weight in China and spending so much time lying around, he is again back to his regular weight and has his endurance and strength back. He is healthy and strong and after a visit to the Doctor to check his white blood count, he remains in the normal range. He has not been sick so far this fall and we believe he is healthier than ever. He has not had any stomach problems since returning from China, something he was plagued with constantly before we went to China for stem cells. Although we wanted the stem cells to mend his smaller than normal optic nerves, some of the cells got away and have worked to regulate his digestive track. Sometimes Matt says “I must be having a stem cell moment”, because he can feel something happening in his body. He says it is hard to describe, because it is just a different feeling. These feelings can be in his head behind his eyes, or in other part of his body. Recently at a local football game when the weather was very cold, his hands were very warm, without gloves. At one point he had very hot elbows, even red to look at. We believe the stem cells are causing some positive reactions in his system, maybe opening up channels of healing. We believe growth and additional breakthroughs will continue. We are very thankful for what healing Matt has received so far. We look forward to the next 7-8 months and what exciting changes will come.
