Leena's mother explains, "I really wanted her to have less. I was hoping the stem cells would stop the involuntary movement." Condition Before Treatment Leena had significant involuntary movement, which made it difficult for her to sit still. She also had trouble speaking and controlling saliva. Her mother says, "Mentally she's perfectly fine, but she needs a lot of motor skills." Treatment in China Leena came to China in July of 2009 to receive stem cell therapy. During the therapy she received eight injections--a combination of IV and spinal transplants of umbilical cord blood stem cells as well as daily acupuncture, electric wave therapy, and a regimen of physical therapy. Condition After Treatment Leena's involuntary movement decreased noticeably. "We took her to a restaurant she was able to sit on a chair all by herself without tipping over," her mother says. "I've seen that she's drooling less than she was, and her speech is more clear than before."
