Wahpeton, ND (WDAY TV) - An 8-year old Wahpeton girl is back from China after a life-changing stem cell treatment that is already making a difference. Lilli Mann is blind, but she and her family are already noticing a difference in what the little girl can see. Through her giggles Lilli Mann will tell you she is 8 and a half, almost nine. What an exciting school year it has been already for Lilli. She took a trip across the world to China for stem cell treatments and traditional Chinese therapies to help Lilli see again. “Little things, but when you add them up together it is big things.” The trip to China happened in September. A series of five stem cell treatments, now weeks later, the stem cell treatments appear to be making a difference. “When we are walking around outside she will see the lines in a parking lot.” Lilli is seeing things she never did before. “We were parked somewhere the other day and she said look at that building and that car. And I said what color is that car and she said gray and it was gray.” In recess and gym class, she sees the ball to kick or dribble and medical tests now reveal there is improvement in the optic nerve. No full restoration of sight yet and Lilli knows improvements may be few and may take time. “Some good days some bad, life is life. You don't always get what you want.” A change in one little girl's world, a world she can't wait to see more of. Lilli's stem cell treatments and flight cost the family 35-thousand dollars. Donations are still being accepted at the Gate City Bank in Wahpeton.
