Ji-Hong Shi, Hui Zhu, Yan-Sheng Liu, Jiang Wu, Zheng-HuaYue, Ya-Pin Feng, Dian-Chun Wang and Yu Feng Kunming General Hospital of Chengdu Military Command, Kunming, 650032 China Objective: To explore the feasibility of Schwann cells (SC) transplantation in the treatment of acute spinal cord injury (SCI), a series of clinical trials have been carried out. Methods: We treated 37 cases of acute spinal cord injury with complete paraplegia by reduction, internal fixation and SC transplantation to the injured spinal cord area. Results: The American Spinal Injury Association (ASIA) score of all 37 cases increased after operations (p<0.05). Conclusion: SC transplantation can improve the neurological function of spinal cord in the patient with acute complete SCI.
