P A T I E N T E X P E R I E N C E - E P I L E P S Y NAME: Liliana Pinczker
AGE: 8
GENDER: Female
COUNTRY: Hungary DIAGNOSIS: Epilepsy
REASON FOR COMING TO TREATMENT: Liliana has suffered from epilepsy since birth. In addition, lack of oxygen at birth resulted in brain trauma. She suffered from regular and intense epileptic fits while she slept, often occurring multiple times a night. The fits would often leave her feeling debilitated after they finished. Her conditions have affected her balance. She lacked coordination and it became difficult for her to walk and climb stairs. Her social interaction is also abnormal - although she often understands what people are saying, in stressful situations, she blanks out or cries uncontrollably. The cumulative effect of her disabilities has clearly left her feeling very distressed.
TREATMENT: Four I.V. umbilical cord stem cell injections with rehabilitation therapy
START OF TREATMENT: 23 July 2007

BEFORE THE TREATMENT: Early videos show Liliana is clearly having great difficulty balancing on a moving platform and she needs someone to assist her to stand. In physiotherapy, her arms are very weak and she has trouble concentrating.
