NUME: Karen Brooks TARA: Australia VARSTA: 43 ani DIAGNOSTIC: ALS (Scleroza Amiotrofica Laterala)
ALS este o boala progresiva, fatala, neurodegenerativa, cauzata de degenerarea nervilor motorii, celulelor nervoase din sistemul nervos central care asigura controlul voluntar asupra miscarilor. Boala provoaca slabiciuni ale muschilor si atrofie in intregul corp. MOTIVUL VENIRII PENTRU TRATAMENT: Karen a fost dignosticata cu ALS in Mai 2006. De atunci starea ei s-a deteriorat rapid. TRATAMENT: Implanturi cu celule stem (prelevate din cordonul ombilical) si perfuzii cu factori de crestere a nervilor, plus recuperare medicala. DIAGNOSTIC: Bulbar ALS - Ianuarie 2005
MOTIVUL VENIRII PENTRU TRATAMENT : Primele simptome au aparut in Iulie 2004. Boala a debutat progresiv, din ce in ce mai rau pana cand, chiar inainte de tratament a ajuns intr-un scaun cu rotile iar miscarile bratelor erau limitate.
TRATAMENT: Implanturi cu celule stem (prelevate din cordonul ombilical) si perfuzii cu factori de crestere a nervilor, plus recuperare medicala.
INCEPEREA TRATAMENTULUI : 12 Februarie 2006
INAINTEA TRATAMENTULUI : El nu se putea ridica in picioare din scaunul rulant, fara ajutor, altfel ar fi riscat sa-si piarda echilibrul. Putea doar sa-si ridice mainile la piept in timp ce statea intins pe pat. Avea probleme cu deglutitia. Nu putea sa-si miste bine muschii fetei sau sa-si scoata limba. El lua Baclofen, 10 mg, de trei ori pe zi pentru a preveni spasticitatea musculara.

REASON FOR COMING FOR TREATMENT: Weakness in his left arm, and a lot of pain in his left shoulder with intensive twitching everywhere.
TREATMENT: Umbilical Cord Stem Cell and Nerve Growth Factor Injections with Rehabilitation Therapy
START OF TREATMENT: Nov 18, 2005
BEFORE THE TREATMENT: Had trouble sleeping because of pain in shoulder and twitiching. Had trouble raising his left arm because of the pain. Had no use of left hand. (Video Before 1st treatment)
AFTER THE TREATMENT: No pain in shoulder. Could sleep well. Can raise left arm above head with no pain. Slight improvement in movement of left fingers. Muscle twitching stopped in throat, eye, legs, chest, and mostly in the good arm. Muscle twitching started in the affected arm.

REASON FOR COMING FOR TREATMENT: Had ALS symptoms for nearly ten years.
TREATMENT: Umbilical Cord Stem Cell and Nerve Growth Factor Injections with Rehabilitation Therapy.
START OF TREATMENT: October 25, 2004
BEFORE THE TREATMENT: Speech slightly slurred, could only walk a short distance without walker, weakness in the arms.
AFTER THE TREATMENT: Did not notice differences on his own but his friends say he is walking better. Slight increase in hand strength on both arms as tested by grip meter.
CHINA STEM CELL NEWS COMMENTS: Bob had treatment from Dr. Huang in April of 2005. After the treatment, he felt some improvements for two days but said they left after that. He attributed the loss of improvements to hitting his head. When China Stem Cell News spoke with his wife and his friend during his treatment with Beike, both of them said he had many little improvements after Dr. Huang’s treatment but he did not notice them. His friends, however, did.
