EL PASO COUNTY - Finally they're off! Brandon Stewart and his parents got on a plane to China Friday Morning. Brandon is the young boy blind due to Optic Nerve Hypoplasia. He's headed to China to receive a treatment expected to give him his eye sight.

The farthest the family has ever travelled is two states away for a week. This time their going around the world and for 6 weeks. "I'm scared, I'm nervous, I'm excited, we can't wait." says Brandon's mom Katrina.

The last week was spent packing and organizing getting everything from passports and visas organized to buying things like Tylenol, which you can't buy over the counter in China, to Febreze to keep the room smelling good. They've also purchased an electronic translator to help them communicate a little easier.

Brandon is well aware of why they're going. "Because I got to get the treatment done." He says. It's a treatment that will consist of several stem cell injections and the results can come fast. "Most of the kids over there are starting to see results within the 1st treatment or 2." explains Katrina.

Brandon is the most excited about his first time on a plane."I want to feel the wings on the airplane." Hopefully on his way home he'll be excited about seeing the wings.

The Stewarts have raised $52,407 to go to China. When they return they'll still need about $17,000 more to buy a hypobaric chamber for Brandon's continued treatment.
